President’s Corner

Time moves on and my term is coming to a successful closing!

I feel that this has been a great and very rewarding experience. Some of you may remember that I was President of the Kokomo Lions Club in 1972 and I must say that this service was another great success. My success is a result of a group of dedicated Rotary members who accepted their responsibilities for their positions that I asked them to perform.

This is YOUR ROTARY; I can honestly say I have received 95% of all members willing to say “I WILL SERVE”

One of my priorities was member recruiting; we have now reached our membership of 156 members with two new members, Mayor Greg Goodnight #155 and Sara Pyle at #156. With two months remaining we hope to reach 160 total members.

Rotary Foundation International:

Another goal of mine was reaching our goal of $10,275. This we accomplished with us achieving quota and a plus of 6,000 for a grand total $16,195. I applaud Marilyn Skinner, Chairman, for a good job, this was a voluntary position.

Topping off my first 10 months was the great success of the GSE Committee headed by Peggy Hobson; she was assisted by Mary Rowe. The five members from Africa were hosted by Nancy Madru, Diana Tenbrook, Mary Rowe, Brenda Kaufman and Steve Currens from the Thursday Early Risers. A tour of the city, a visit to the mayor’s office and a canoe trip was reportedly enjoyed by all.

As I close I encourage you to look for my final message of my Presidency next month, until then God Bless

Col. Bill Smyser

Pres.

Kokomo #444
